The M.2 XPANDER-Z SLIDER GEN5 is a new add-on card for storage expansion designed with EZ DIY features for effortless assembly. Today, we would like to introduce this new accessory and give you more information about it.
M.2 XPANDER-Z SLIDER GEN5 is a PCIe 5.0 x8 interface add-on card that supports 2 M.2 slots at 2280-sized M.2 SSDs. Each slot achieves up to PCIe 5.0 x41 bandwidth and 128Gbps1 data transferring speed, which fulfills the most demanding storage requirements for both ultra-fast speed and expansion. It is also thin. With only 18.57mm thickness (width), it is compatible with most chassis.
Thermal design is essential for high-speed M.2 storage, especially PCIe 5.0 SSD. M.2 XPANDER-Z SLIDER GEN5 features a 70 mm Double-ball Bearing fan located aside two M.2 slots, which provides up to 19 mm-H2O air pressure to ensure M.2 storage performs stable and high performance. Its fan speed can be controlled or synced with the motherboard by connecting to the motherboard's fan header.
MSI keeps improving the assembly process and makes DIY effortlessly; the EZ DIY features have also been introduced to this add-on card. The Tool-free M.2 installation design ensures no screws and screwdriver during the process. The new EZ Slide design reduces the effort of the M.2 upgrade by removing and adding the M.2 SSD from the back side of the chassis. You don’t have to remove the expansion card from the motherboard or remove the thermal module to swap SSD now.2 There are two LEDs beside each M.2 slot on the I/O side, indicating the storage status for EZ Recognition.
